6 KLO cadres and area commanders also arrested in a joint operation by Assam police and army


BanglaHunt Desk: 6 cadres of KLO were caught. Six militants of the Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO) were caught in a joint operation by Assam police and army on Thursday night. A large number of firearms were recovered. According to police sources, the four arrested have received militant training in Bangladesh.

The raid took place on Thursday night

Sukit Barman, Sanjit Barman, Mamin Roy, Biplob Barman, Panchanan Roy and Gautam Roy, along with the self-proclaimed Second Lieutenant and Area Commander of Lower Assam, were arrested. The raid was carried out on Thursday night at Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctuary in Kokrajhar, Assam. The militant group was rescued there. Among them is the most wanted KLO militant Lankeshwar Koch alias Lambu.

Militants were also captured in Assam with training from Bangladesh

According to the police, 4 of the arrested militants received training from Bangladesh. And the other two are said to have received militant training in Kokrajhar, Assam.

Found from the suspects

6 pistols, 6 magazines, 24 fresh cartridges, 5 empty cartridges and money were recovered from the suspects. Kokrajhar Additional Superintendent of Police Punmajit Nath told a joint press conference on Friday that the forest operation was carried out on a tip-off.

The militants still have 250 to 300 cadres

KLO militants carried out the attack demanding a separate Kamatapur state. They want to create separate states with Kochbihar, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, North and South Dinajpur and Malda in West Bengal and Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Dhubri and Goalpara in Assam. Besides, they still have 250 to 300 cadres.
