Bangla Hunt Desk: The Punjab Police team was attacked by people carrying vegetables during a curfew on Sonauer Road in Patiala, Punjab. One policeman's hand was cut off in the attack, and two policemen were seriously injured.
According to police, a group of four (five traditionally armed and Sikhs wearing blue long kurta – Nihangs) were carrying a car and the Bazar Board officials asked them to stand by the vegetable market around 6.30 in the morning. “They want to see the curfew pass, but they break the barricades that were planted there,” said Mandeep Singh Sidhu, a senior police officer in Patiala.

He said, “They cut the hand of an Assistant Deputy Inspector General (ASI) with a sword. The officer was also hurt in the hands of Patiala Sadar police station and another police officer was also hurt due to the attack. ” ASI was taken to Rajendra Hospital, from where he was referred to PGIMER Chandigarh. The SSP said the attackers fled the scene after the attack, and they had no shelter at a gurdwara. Police said efforts were underway to arrest them.

The incident took place in lockdown to prevent the Corona virus in Punjab across the country. This is the third case of attack on police in the past 24 hours following the curfew and lockdown.
