Case filed against Muslim man for refusing to eat Dalit cuisine while in quarantine


Bangla Hunt Desk: An FIR was filed against a person in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday. The man has been accused of refusing to eat Dalit's handcuffs. The accused man, Siraj Ahmed, is at a quarantine center built at a primary school in Kushinagar district. Four more people were reported to be at the Quarantine Center with the man.

Police said the man, Seraj Ahmad, returned to his hometown on March 25 from Delhi. He was then sent to the Quarantine Center.

April 3, a resident of the village, Lilavati Devi, a Dalit community man. He went to the Quarantine Center and cooked for everyone there. The main reason for his cooking was that the cook didn't come to the Quarantine Center that day. For this, Lilavati Devi cooked for 3 people. Then the accused man Siraj Ahmed refused to eat the cook made by Lilavati Devi.

After the incident, Lilavati Devi told Saad Divisional Magistrate Deepak Singh and Block Development Officer Ramakant. He also filed a complaint with the police last Sunday. In-charge of the police station RK Yadav said that a case has been registered against the accused person, Siraj Ahmed, according to the Scheduled Caste Act.

On the other hand, the local BJP MLA Dalit went to the house of Lilavati Devi and had her cooked. He then said that such an event would never be tolerated. Timely action should be taken against the accused.
