Banglahunt Desk: A farmer in Karnataka has faced a loss of around Rs 3 lakh due to a lockdown due to Corona virus (COVID-19). Due to the lockdown, both the customer and the seller are in trouble till May 3. Due to the closure of most markets, they are unable to sell fresh vegetables.
During the first 3 days of lockdown, Sridhar saved about 5kg of capsicum at his home in Hosur, as the market and transport facilities were completely closed. They tried to arrange transportation to reach the Bengaluru market, but they did not receive any assistance. In the end they distribute the free vegetables to the people, before the vegetables are spoiled.
In this moment of crisis, an organization called 'Taru' came forward to help Sridhar. Sunil Ghatori, a businessman in Bengaluru, saw how farmers were upset for the lockdown on the adjoining land. Then he told The Better India, 'Some of my friends and I run a company called' Taru ', where we buy fresh vegetables from farmers and sell them in packets. These packets are handed over to the residents living in the apartments. '
The organization is delivering fresh vegetables to about 4 families in the crisis and as a result, farmers are no longer losing their vegetables. In addition to vegetables, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, lemons, peppers, coriander, ginger and garlic are also available. Buyers can choose sheep, eggplant, beans, cabbage, cauliflower, ghee, radish, carrot, cucumber, beetroot and capsicum of their choice. Each box costs 25 rupees. However, if less than 20 boxes are sold in an apartment, a delivery price of Rs 30 is charged from them.
Orders are placed through Facebook pages and WhatsApp. However, in order to place an order, you need to fill out a form online. However, you need to order at least 5 boxes per apartment. A group of farmers from Hosur in Krishnagiri district is being assisted to prepare these boxes. Then when the orders are taken, our worker Sunil delivers them to the right address. But they also use masks and sanitize hands and feet. As a result of this, we now have 12 families to move out of this crisis. We clearly deliver their orders to them.
