Last week, a court in Ludhiana banned the release and streaming of Diljit’s upcoming film Chamkila. The film is a biopic of Punjabi singer Amarjeet Singh Chamkila and his second wife Amarjot Kaur. The director of this film is Imtiaz Ali. At the same time, Parineeti Chopra is in the film opposite Diljit. After this film, another film of Diljit has been banned.

Amarjit Singh’s second biopic put on hold

Now the title of Diljit Dosanjh’s film which has been banned is Jodi Teri Meri Hai, which is a Punjabi film. And this is also the biopic of singer Amarjit Singh Chamkila. While Imtiaz Ali is making his biopic in Hindi language, it is in Punjabi by Amberdeep Singh. And in both the films, Diljit is in the lead role. After Chamkila, a local court in Ludhiana had also banned Jodi Teri Meri. Let me tell you, this film was going to release on 5th May.

Why was the film banned?

The reason for the ban on Diljit Dosanjh’s film is a matter related to copyright. Actually, the court has taken this decision after the petition of a person named Ishdeep Randhawa of Patiala. Ishidap Singh filed an application in the court claiming that Amarjeet Singh Chamkila’s first wife Gurmail Kaur had given rights to her father Gurudev Singh Randhawa to make a biopic of her husband.

Ishdeep Singhas says that an agreement was also signed between Gurmail Kaur and her father on 12 October 2012, along with which her father also gave Rs 5 lakh. However, Ishdeep’s father passed away in November last year. At the same time, he says that his family should get the right to make a biopic.
