The Chief Minister gave this instruction to the administrative officers at a meeting held at the office of the Sub-Divisional Commissioner at Kakdwip in South 24 Parganas on Saturday.
In the administrative meeting, the Chief Minister said that one penny of 'Joy Bangla Joy Jahar' project should not be nine or six. Then I will not leave. The money will be given directly to the recipients, not to the chairman of the district council, to anyone in the panchayat association. Money must be given to poor people. ‘Besides, he added, the government has not received any money because of the corona in the last three months. As a result, there are problems in undertaking big projects.
According to statistics, 83 lakh people have been affected in different parts of South 24 Parganas alone. More than 1 million houses have been destroyed. One and a half lakh houses have been demolished in Diamond Harbor. 56 km river embankment has been destroyed. All in all, Bengal is facing an extreme crisis. The Chief Minister called upon all the departments to work together at this time.
Incidentally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already visited damaged Bengal. Accompanied by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, he visited the affected areas by helicopter. He has announced Rs 1,000 crore aid for Bengal. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a press conference on Thursday and asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the state. And just hours after that press conference, the Prime Minister announced his arrival in West Bengal.
