India is eligible to become a permanent member of the UNSC, said Syed Akbaruddin at the time of his departure

Syed Akbar Uddin, Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations, has retired. Since taking office in 2016, he has gained a reputation for strengthening India's position in the United Nations. He last spoke to the UN Secretary-General in a video conference before retiring.

Syed Akbar Uddin told the UN Secretary General in a video conference, “We have a request before retiring from this post. According to Indian custom, we do not say hello or shake hands when we first meet a person or when we say goodbye. We Indians fold our hands and salute. That's why I want to greet you before I end. And if you say hello, I'll ask one of my friends to take this picture. ' He also lauded India, saying, “India has a significant role to play as a permanent member of the UN. So India deserves this position. India is a developing secular country. A democratic country with a billion-plus population. Probably the only example in history of more than one billion people working together with a democratic structure. We will be able to work together as different entities and move forward with permanent membership in the United Nations. “

In the last few years, Syed Akbar Uddin has played a very important role in the UN as the representative of India. Masood Azhar, the head of the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed, played a key role in declaring him a global terrorist on behalf of the United Nations. Despite the Chinese government's opposition to the incident, Syed Akbar Uddin did not stop. He worked tirelessly to declare Masood Azhar a global terrorist.

He also dismissed the issue of Kashmir, which was made public by China on the global stage. Turumurthy, currently the Secretary of the Finance Department in the Foreign Office, has been appointed as India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations. A member of the 1975 batch of the Indian Foreign Service and a writer at the same time, Turumurthy has now replaced Syed Akbar Uddin.
