IPL 2021 is going to be in a completely new format by dividing 10 teams into two groups

The IPL has been a huge success this time amidst Corona's concerns. The BCCIO has seen great success. And so before the end of the 2020 IPL, the Board of Control for Cricket in India, headed by Sourav Ganguly, started thinking anew about the 2021 IPL.

For several months now, there has been a lot of speculation in Indian cricket about a 10-team tournament in the 2021 IPL. Board sources also hinted at this. However, the seal of approval for the 2021 IPL with 10 teams is going to be read at the annual meeting of the board on December 24.

Besides, this time there is going to be a big change in the rules of IPL. Until now, the IPL has been a round-robin league with two leagues. Each team had the opportunity to play 14 matches. In the end the four teams that were at the top of the points table played the playoffs.

In the 2021 IPL, ten teams will be divided into two groups. Each team will play one match against the other four teams in its group and two matches each with five teams from the other group at home and away. Each team will play a total of 14 matches. This format is very complex but it is expected to save a lot of time on the board.
