Jammu and Kashmir DDC results indicate Gerua storm, Congress lags behind


Bangla Hunt Desk: The results of the 6-point DDC Election in Jammu and Kashmir will be announced today. 218 candidates in 260 constituencies are trying their luck in this election. Counting of votes is underway at all district headquarters. Strict security measures have been put in place outside the counting center. State police and army personnel are keeping a close watch outside the counting center. A quick action team has been deployed outside the sensitive center.

Meanwhile, on Monday, a day before the DDC election results were announced, more than 20 people, including two close relatives of the PDP chief and former state chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, and a former minister, were taken into police custody. Mehbooba Mufti tweeted that the incident was illegal.

Preliminary figures show the People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration in 9 of the 270 seats. Bharatiya Janata Party in 9 seats. The National Congress is leading in 2 seats, the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party in 3 seats and the others in 4 seats.
