Jawan martyred at Siachen Glacier, eight-month-pregnant wife last visited in video call


Bangla Hunt Desk: A soldier from Subathur in Solen district of Himachal Pradesh was martyred in a glacier in Siachen. On December 3, while being deployed to his post due to bad weather, Biljong Gurung suddenly fell into an ice ditch. After much effort by the comrades, Biljong Gurung was rescued from the iceberg. But he died before he could be rescued.

Gurung's wife last visited her husband through a video call. Jawan's wife Deepa Gurung is eight months pregnant, and she is now in Nepal with her family. While the funeral of the martyred husband was going on at Subathu in Mangalbar, his wife saw the ceremony through a video call from Nepal and broke down in tears.

Shahid Gurung went to Nepal on holiday two months ago, and met his family there. After the holidays, Biljong was assigned to patrol the Indo-China international border. Shahid's father has also retired from his son's unit and is deployed in India's security according to DSI. Her brother GR deployed the country's security at the Jammu border.

Jawan Tulsi Gurung, brother of the martyr, said that Dada was very brave from his school days. Himachal Chief Minister Jairam Tagore has expressed grief over the death of Jawan. The Chief Minister said, “May God grant peace to the soul of the deceased and strength to the bereaved family.” My sympathy will always be with them.
