Maruti Suzuki SUV Cars: The demand for SUV cars is increasing rapidly in India. Every auto company wants to wash its hands in the flowing Ganga. That’s why the leading auto brands are constantly introducing new SUV cars. Be it Indian companies like Tata Motors and Mahindra or foreign auto brands like Kia, Hyundai and Toyota, all of them are betting big on big cars. On the other hand, the country’s largest car companyIt is a late entrant in the SUV segment. However, now Maruti has full intention of becoming the biggest SUV brand.
Maruti is focusing a lot to become number one in the SUV car market. At the Auto Expo too, the company has expressed its intentions by introducing the Jimny and Fronx SUVs. The existing Brezza and Grand Vitara SUVs of both the SUVs have different consumer base and are also quite popular in India.
Maruti is behind in the SUV segment
Maruti Suzuki occupies a large part of the Indian car market. Talking about the non-SUV market, Maruti’s market share is around 65 percent. However, by adding the SUV segment, Maruti’s market share drops to around 42 per cent. Last year, Maruti’s market share in the SUV market was around 12.5 percent.
Eyeing 50% stake
According to the Economic Times report, Maruti Suzuki’s Executive Director Shashank Srivastava said that if Maruti has to capture 50 per cent market share, then the market share in SUVs will have to be increased. In the SUV segment itself, affordable SUVs and compact SUVs are the biggest market.
The share of SUV cars in the car market is about 45 percent. At the same time, only cheap SUV cars have 23 percent market share.

Srivastava said that due to the shortage of semi-conductors, there is a problem in meeting the demand. The company has booking pending for around 4,00,000 cars. The company expects that the supply of semi conductors will improve from the second quarter. At the same time, with the bumper booking of lifestyle off-road SUV Jimny and Franks, Maruti is on the way to become the number one company of SUV.
