Parvez sentenced to life in prison for raping Yogi Adityanath in 2006 riots

Bengali Hunt Desk: Mehmood alias Jumman Baba alias Parvez Parvaz of Gorakhpur was charged with rape. The court sentenced him to life imprisonment and a fine of Tk 25,000. This is the same Pervez who filed a case against the then Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath over the 2006 riots. Note that Jumman's father has been in jail for two years for rape.

By the way, Jumman Baba is famous for blowing the whistle. A woman who was separated from her husband used to go to the middle of Maghar for sweeping. Jumman's father used to blow her there. The woman said that she got peace by sweeping the dargah. Then on June 3, 2016, Aye Jumman Baba called the woman at 10:30 pm under the pretext of praying, then went to a secluded place and gang-raped the woman along with another man.

The woman said another person was called Jumman Baba Bhai. After the incident, the woman called the police on 100 number. The police came and rescued him.

It may be mentioned that Jumman Baba had filed an application in the High Court on January 26, 2006 alleging that Yogi Adityanath had made a controversial statement in front of the gate of Gorakhpur railway station and caused massive riots in Gorakhpur and its adjoining districts.

The petitioner asked the court to direct a CBI inquiry into the incident of hate speech and the communal violence caused by him. After the BJP government came to power in the state and Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary of the state said that he would not allow any case against the Chief Minister in that riot case. The Allahabad High Court also dismissed the plea to prosecute Yogi Adityanath after the Uttar Pradesh government refused to allow the case to proceed.
