The price of petrol and diesel, this is the issue which affects everything from politics to the life of the common man. The price of petrol and diesel may not have changed in the country for a long time, but petrol is being sold at Rs 100 and diesel at around Rs 90 per litre. Now it is expected that its prices will come down soon.

Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in the Modi government said on Saturday that oil companies may consider reducing the prices of petrol and diesel if crude oil prices remain stable in the international market. Not only this, it will also depend on how the performance of the oil companies is. If these companies do better in the next quarter, then they will be able to take a call on price cuts.

This statement of Hardeep Singh Puri also has political significance before the 2024 general elections in the country. The main opposition party Congress has been a constant attacker on the Modi government regarding inflation, petrol and diesel prices etc. In such a situation, this statement of Puri is being seen as a sign of reduction in the price of petrol and diesel.

Can’t say anything fixed right now

Along with this, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri also made it clear that he cannot make any announcement regarding the reduction in the prices of petrol and diesel. It has to be seen what happens next and what can be done.

Puri was discussing with reporters at the BJP headquarters in Delhi on Saturday. Meanwhile, he said this in response to a question regarding the reduction in the price of petrol and diesel. Regarding the results of the last quarter of the petroleum companies, Puri said that they were ‘okay’. Rather, the companies also made up for some of their losses.

Hardeep Singh Puri said that the prices of petrol and diesel depend on the market, but the Modi government has not allowed their prices to increase since April 2022. It is the effort of the government that the common man does not have to face any problem.
