Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted ‘shocked’ at the death of migrant workers in Maharashtra

The Prime Minister tweeted, “I am deeply saddened by the loss of life in a train accident in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.” He also tweeted that he had spoken to Railway Minister Piyush Gayal, and that he was keeping an eye on the situation. All necessary assistance is being provided. He has already directed Railway Minister Piyush Goel to conduct a proper inquiry into how the incident took place and the role of the driver.

14 people died on the spot. The other five were rescued and taken to a local hospital. Aurangabad police started investigation. The accident took place near Karmad in Aurangabad, a South Central Railway official said. The accident happened when an empty rack of a freight wagon passed over the migrant workers.
