Bangla Hunt Desk: A fire broke out in Kutupalong Bazaar in Ukhia, a Rohingya refugee camp in southern Bangladesh, on Friday, setting 20 shops ablaze and killing three. Local police officer Ahmed Sunjur Murshid said firefighters had been trying to put out the blaze for several hours and three bodies had been recovered so far.
Rohingyas fleeing Myanmar were sleeping in the Kutupalong Rohingya camp when the fire broke out on Friday. Although it is not yet known how the fire started. A fire at a Rohingya refugee camp last month killed 15 people and injured 560 others. About 45,000 people were left homeless in that fire.
A fire department official said the fire was brought under control after a three-hour standoff. He said many were injured but it was not immediately clear how the fire started.
