Bangla Hunt Desk: Twelve militants, including several Taliban commanders, were killed in an Afghan Air Force airstrike on the outskirts of Takhar in Afghanistan on Wednesday night. All of them were recently involved in militant attacks on police headquarters.

Local officials said Thursday that Taliban militants attacked Afghan forces on Wednesday in a village on the outskirts of Takhar. The Agfgan Air Force then launched an air strike on Taliban militants, killing 12 militants, including several Taliban commanders. Although several civilians were reported killed in the strike, an investigation is under way.

Earlier, on October 21, 25 Afghan soldiers were killed in a Taliban attack. Javed Hazari, the governor's spokesman on the outskirts of Takhar, said the encounter between the army and Taliban militants began after the case. The militants are also said to have suffered heavy losses in the encounter. However, it is not yet known how many militants were killed in the encounter.
