Team India lost two openers before lunch in front of England’s 58 runs

England captain Joe Root decided to bat first after winning the toss in the first Test. Batting first, England scored 578 runs on Joe Root’s double century. Joe Root and Ben Stokes have done great batting for England.

Batting in front of the hill of runs given by England, Team India lost one wicket after another at the beginning and fell under pressure. The Indian batting line-up was pushed from the beginning to open. India opener Rohit Sharma returned to the pavilion after being bowled out for just 6 runs by Joffra Archer. Then Cheteshwar Pujara entered the crease. Pujara and Shubhaman Gill tried to make a long innings but Joffra Archer hit the Indian camp again. Young India opener Shubhaman Gill returned to the pavilion with 29 off 28 balls after being bowled by Joffra Archer.

Where England put up a huge 578-run stand in front of India, Team India lost two wickets before the lunch break. India captain Virat Kohli 4 (12) and Cheteshwar Pujara 20 (35) are at the crease at the moment. Now India’s innings depends entirely on the bats of these two. The longer these two stay at the crease, the more India gains.
