The CBI has filed a chargesheet against four upper caste men accused in the hathras case. The chargesheet alleges that the Dalit girl was gang-raped and murdered.

Uttar Pradesh police had earlier claimed that the girl was not gang-raped. The names of the four accused are in the chargesheet, the lawyers said. The CBI report has been filed in a special SC-ST court.

The 19-year-old Dalit woman was raped by four men in Hathras on September 14. Rape died at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi on September 29 after a life-threatening battle. Then on September 30, his body was cremated near his house. The victim's family complained that local police forced her to perform her funeral early. Local police officials, however, said the bodies were cremated “at the behest of the family.”

Evidence of their involvement has been found through various forensic tests at the Forensic Science Laboratory in Gandhinagar. The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh faced a lot of criticism in this incident. After which the investigation was transferred to CBI. The CBI had formed a team to investigate the incident and the Ghaziabad unit was given the responsibility of the investigation.
