Bangla Hunt Desk: Police arrested two people on charges of selling the grave of Yakub Memon, convicted in the 1993 Mumbai blasts. Yaqub Memon's cousin Mohammad Abdul Rauf Memon lodged an FIR with the police alleging that the graves of Memon and three others were sold for Rs 500,000.
The case was filed on March 19, but the police did not bother at the time due to the corona virus epidemic. This time the police have started taking action in this case and arrested two people. Two persons named Jazil Navarang and Parvez Sarkar are now in police custody.
Navarang and Parvez are both trustees of the Juma Mosque in Mumbai. The cemetery is under this trust. It is alleged that the two sold the graves together. Yakub Memon, convicted of the Mumbai attacks, was hanged in Nagpur Central Jail and was buried in a large cemetery in Mumbai on July 30, 2015.
