The film was in controversies even before its release and there was a lot of opposition regarding it. But even after this the film has earned well after its release. This film has been released across the country. The film was welcomed in most of the states, but due to protests in Kerala, its screening has been stopped.
During the release of the film, it was said to be released on 50 screens in Kerala. But in view of the protests, the film was released on only 17 screens. But the protests did not stop. The film also did not earn much in Kerala. Apart from this, in view of the ongoing protests, the screening of the film has been stopped in Chennai within 2 days.

The screening of the film is not happening anywhere in Chennai now. But this has not had any significant impact on the film’s earnings. The film has earned more than its opening day on the second day.

The Kerala Story is directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amritlal Shah. It was told in the film that it is the story of the disappearance of 32000 young girls from Kerala who were misled and made terrorists and their lives were ruined. But it was termed as a propaganda film and accused of tampering with facts. After this the director had to come on the backfoot and made changes in it.
