Amidst this debate, Vivek Agnihotri has given ‘bad news’ to the team of The Kerala Story a day after the release of the film. Taking to Twitter, Vivek Agnihotri penned a long note, in which he told the film’s producer Vipul Shah, director Sudipto Sen and actor Adah Sharma that from now on his life would ‘not be the same’. He warned that he would get unimaginable hatred. He would feel suffocated.

He grew up listening to great filmmakers and cinema critics that the only purpose of art is to provoke people against what they believe in. Apart from this, he has also heard that cinema reflects the truth of the society. He was told that cinema would destroy his old God and create a new God.

He said that he has now realized that new age cinema has the power to do what media and politics cannot do. It can present uncomfortable reality, correct history, fight culture wars and become soft power for the larger interest of the nation. It is very difficult to make this kind of cinema in India.
