Thousands of people took to the torchlight procession in POK to protest against the Sino-Pakistani conspiracy

Bangla Hunt Desk: Pakistan Occupied Kashmir has once again unmasked Islamabad's repressive policies. Locals in the town of Muzaffarabad in PoK staged a protest on Monday night over the construction of a mega dam on the Neelam-Jhelum river by a Chinese company. During the protest, PoK residents chanted slogans against Pakistan with torches in their hands. Members of the organization “Save the sea, save Muzaffarabad” chanted slogans against Pakistan. The rally was attended by thousands of residents from the city and other areas of PoK.

Pakistan and China recently signed an agreement to build the Azad Pattan and Kohala hydropower projects in PoK. The Azad Pattan Hydraulic Power Plant for 600.6 MW was signed on July 8, 2020 as part of the China-Pakistan Financial Corridor (CPEC). The ৪ 1.54 billion project is being worked on by China's Gezuba Group Company.

The Kohala Hydroelectric Power Project, to be built on the Jhelum River, is about 7 km from the Azad Pattan Bridge in the Shudhnoti district and 90 km from the Pakistani capital Islamabad. This project is expected to be completed by 2026. Residents of PoK, however, are outraged by China's presence there, the construction of dams and changes in the course of the river. And from time to time they have been opposing this project.

PoK and Gilgit are looting Baltistan's natural resources in the name of China and Pakistan financial corridors. And because of this, the people of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir are angry with the decision of Beijing and Islamabad.
