Kabir Singh, the grandson of Balbir Singh Sr., said, “Yesterday afternoon, his body suddenly went bad. Now his physical condition is not so good. He was taken to Fortis Hospital, where he is being treated at the ICU. ”
Balbir Singh, 95, was hospitalized in Chandigarh for several days last year due to respiratory problems. According to family sources, he had been suffering from shortness of breath for the past two or three days, which was causing problems in other parts of his body. On the whole, his physical condition is not stable.
Balbir Singh was instrumental in helping India win gold medals in hockey at the London Olympics (1948), Helsinki (1952) and Melbourne Olympics (1956). India won the Helsinki Olympics 6-1 against the Netherlands. And he scored five of those six goals. And no one has broken this record yet.
