According to the annual report of mobile application analysis company App Annie, video sharing platform Tiktok has overtaken Facebook to become the most downloaded app on both Android and iOS platforms.
The Chinese video app topped the list despite being banned in India in the wake of Ladakh tensions between India and China earlier this year.
TickTock now ranks eighth on the list of apps with the most monthly Active Users (MAUs). It is now only the second highest earning app after Tinder.
Popular app WhatsApp is in third place in the list of most downloaded apps in 2020, followed by video chat service Zoom and media sharing application Instagram.
Google Meet has also been ranked in the top ten due to the increase in video calling in the epidemic. Zoom is 219 steps ahead in the list of the most downloaded apps according to the list shared in the Annie Annual Report.
This year again Facebook was at the top of the monthly active users chart, followed by WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, Amazon and Twitter.
Tiktak was banned by the Indian government citing threats to the country's sovereignty, integrity, state defense and public order.
