Cyclone Biparjoy is going to affect the economy of Gujarat the most. This state is the center of business of two prominent industrialists of the country, Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani. In such a situation, has this storm brought a new crisis for Reliance Industries and Adani Group? After all, how will this affect their business, let us understand…

Let us inform that Biparjoy cyclone has hit the Saurashtra-Kutch region of Gujarat. Since then, there have been stormy rains in the surrounding areas, strong winds are blowing and high waves are rising around the coasts. Reliance Industries has its Jamnagar refinery on the coast of Gujarat, while Adani Group has two major ports Mundra, Kandla and Tuna. All these businesses have been affected by this storm.

Shipment not happening from Jamnagar Refinery

Due to Biparjoy cyclone, the business of Reliance Industries’ Jamnagar refinery has been affected. This is the world’s largest petroleum refinery. The business of this refinery has increased after the Russia-Ukraine war. The reason for this is the ban on the import of oil from Russia by European countries and in return the import of diesel and petroleum products from India has increased.

Now, due to the Biparjoy cyclone, Reliance Industries has suspended operations at the Sikka port supplying crude oil to Jamnagar Refinery and shipping its diesel and other products. The refinery ships 7,04,000 barrels of petroleum products every day from this port, which is a multi-billion dollar business.

Gautam Adani’s ports closed

The areas of Gujarat where Biparjoy storm has brought destruction. They also include the Mundra and Tuna port areas of the Adani Group. A few days ago, Adani Group had informed the stock market that due to Biparjoy, no ship of any kind is present at these two ports. That is, the operation at both the ports of the company is completely stalled. Neither loading nor offloading is happening.

Adani Group’s Mundra Port is the largest commercial port in the country. Hundreds of ships and millions of tonnes of goods move here every day. It is the largest port in the country for the import of coal.

At the same time, on the orders of the local administration, these ports and their surrounding areas have been evacuated. Here only people of essential work are present on the spot. Apart from this, the solar plant and power plant of the group itself have also been kept closed. The power plant is being run as per the requirement. Sources associated with the company say that it is following the instructions of the local administration verbatim.

However, usually, to protect the business from the effects of cyclone or natural calamities, companies provide heavy insurance. In such a situation, companies can also get insurance cover for the damage caused by cyclone Biperjoy.
