The Prime Minister said the cable would be laid at a distance of about 2300 km across the sea from Chennai to Port Blair, Port Blair to Little Andaman and from Port Blair to Swaraj Island. The project was like a challenge. As a result, it will be possible to provide modern telecommunication connections to the hard working citizens of the country.

The tourism industry will also grow

Tourists will be able to get special benefits if this process is introduced. The people of Andaman and Nicobar can also use services like online education, banking, shopping or tele-medicine.

The communication system is also improving

The Prime Minister further said that besides solving the problem of internet, high impact projects are being expanded to about 12 islands here. In addition, physical communication through roads, air and water will be considered.
Besides, construction of two big bridges and NH-4 is being expedited to strengthen road connectivity in North and Central Andaman. In addition, four ships are being built to increase water connectivity between the island and other parts of the country.
