Bangla Hunt Desk: Police and people clashed during Friday prayers in the Liaquatabad area of Karachi, Pakistan. Following the incident, police arrested seven people, including the radical of the mosque, for violating the lockdown. The incident occurred during a full lockdown for three hours issued by the government.
After clashes between the police and the people, some locals took shelter in their homes to save the police. The clash broke out with the police when police arrived at the mosque to arrest a man accused of violating the lockdown. The agitated people threw stones at the police car and after the accused person gathered people in the area, tensions escalated.
The Sindh government announced a full lockdown on Friday from 12 noon to 5pm because of a coronavirus infection. Friday prayers were banned in other parts of Pakistan like in Sindh province. The government deployed 7,000 policemen in Karachi.
