Weather News: Cyclone 'Amphan' is blowing, Bangla is counting fears


BanglaHunt Desk: Terrible cyclone 'Amphan' is about to hit. Like a bulbul, this amphan is going to hit the land by accumulating destructive energy. The cyclone is likely to bring light to moderate rains to Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, two 24 Parganas and two Midnapore districts on May 19. The amount of rain will increase on the 20th. Amphan will take the form of a cyclone tonight. From 18th to 20th it will continue to move towards North East. During these five-six days, the coastal areas of Taminaru, Orissa and West Bengal will experience storms at speeds of up to 60 km per hour. Fishermen have been asked to refrain from going to sea for fear of cyclones. Fishermen from West Bengal, the coast of Orissa and the Bay of Bengal have been banned from fishing in the Bay of Bengal. In the coastal areas, there is a possibility of heavy rains in all the southern districts as well as heavy storms.

Yesterday morning in Kolkata city, the maximum temperature was around 38 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was around 28 degrees Celsius. Today the temperature in the city may rise slightly. The maximum temperature will be around 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be around 28 degrees Celsius.

The Indian Meteorological Department has named 189 storms selected by 13 countries to name future cyclones in the North Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean. Gulab, Tej, Agni, Aag are some of the names. The previous list of cyclones named by the Meteorological Department of eight countries in 2004 will end after the cyclone in the North Indian Ocean, the Bay of Bengal or the Arabian Sea. The next cyclone will be named 'Amphan', a name proposed by Thailand, which ended the 2004 list.
