Yeddyurappa announces Rs 5,000 crore, Rs 1,610 crore financial package for barbers


Bengali Hunt Desk: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Wednesday announced a relief package of Rs 1,610 crore. The government will provide financial assistance to those who have lost their jobs due to corona. On the other hand, he also announced the imposition of exorbitant tariff of 11 per cent on alcohol.

Flower growers facing problems in the lockdown have lost their yields due to lack of demand for flowers. The government estimates that farmers have cultivated about 11,006 hectares of flowers and has announced a maximum of Tk 25,000 per hectare to destroy those crops. The government has also announced financial packages for vegetable and fruit growers. Not only that, the government has also announced financial assistance to barbers and laundresses in both urban and rural areas.

The government has announced a one-time payment of Rs 5,000 to 60,000 laundresses and about 230,000 barbers. About seven lakh auto rickshaw and taxi drivers who lost their jobs due to the lockdown have announced to pay Rs 5,000 each at a time.

Also waived fixed charges on electricity bills for small and medium industries. The government has also said that those who are unable to pay their electricity bills will not have their bills cut until June 30, 2020.
